Exceleron Selected to Lead Prepay Workshop at CS Week

Dallas, Texas – January 8, 2015 – Exceleron Software, the leading software developer of prepay account management solutions for the utility industry, will lead a Prepay Utility Models Workshop on April 25 as part of CS Week in Charlotte, North Carolina. The workshop will explain the many benefits of prepay from a customer service perspective, drawing on specific utilities’ experiences implementing and managing prepay programs.

Karen Huston, Exceleron’s Director of Training and Customer Service will lead the Prepay Utility Models Workshop, which will feature case studies from Sharyl Whitmire of the Cowlitz Public Utility Division (PUD) in Longview, Washington and Michelle Delka of Westar Energy in Wichita, Kansas. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 3:00 until 4:30 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Utilities across the country are switching to a prepay model in which consumers pay for electricity before they use it. The prepay model offers consumers a pay-as-you-go option without any need for traditional monthly bills. Consumers with a prepaid account have access to detailed information about their energy consumption and can choose the amount and frequency of payments, obtaining greater control over their energy consumption and budgeting practices.

“Cowlitz’ ‘My Power Pay’ prepay program powered by MyUsage has been extremely well received by our customers,” said Sharyl Whitmire, Online Services Manager for Cowlitz. “We didn’t expect it to take off so quickly and word of mouth assists with our promotion efforts. In less than nine months, we have gained nearly 1,100 participants.”

Sharyl’s presentation will focus on implementation, including lessons learned and overcoming challenges. She will also discuss Cowlitz’s experience implementing business rules and achieving and maintaining customer service buy-in. Michelle’s presentation will focus on regulatory passage and program implementation.

Exceleron will also staff vendor booth number 729 during CS Week, which will be held from April 27th to May 1st. CS Week is the premier utility customer service conference for managers and executives at investor owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities and government entities.
